Over the Summer of 2007 I was asking
my Dad if we could go to the Mall. He said, "No." (My Dad hates
shopping and walking the Mall aimlessly.) I then asked him how
was I going to find out what I should wear for the upcoming school
year if I didn't go to the Mall and walk around. He said, "Call
your friends." My little brother chimed in with, "Yeah. All of
you girls like stuff!" I told my Dad that I couldn't very well
call all of my friends to find out what colors, styles, and materials
they were going to wear. He asked, "Why can't you do it on the
internet?" I love the song by Will Smith, "Parents Just Don't
Understand." But this was one time when my Dad (and my little
brother) were really smart.
Out of that conversation sprang the GirlsLikeStuff website.
GirlsLikeStuff.com represents a new approach to online shopping
for teenage girls. It gives us the chance to visit literally thousands
of Malls and then share what we find. This is exciting.
GirlsLikeStuff.com is a social shopping community where girls
can discover, suggest and share products they find. GirlsLikeStuff.com's
powerful shopping tools allow girls to organize their shopping
through lists, uncover new things from other girls who have similar
or totally different styles, get discounts on popular products
and find the best prices. GirlsLikeStuff.com is as much fun as
the girls who are in the community, all of whom love to shop.
Community members can create and join groups, share advice, feedback
and product suggestions and personalize their profiles with polls
and other widgets. GirlsLikeStuff.com was launched in 2007 by
a teenager and her younger brother and sister (with a little help
from her Dad). |
